He is the guru of make-up and skin care! TV Guide’s Paul Venoit knows all the rage when it comes to beauty, fashion, and making everyday people into stars!
I had the pleasure of catching up with the TV Guide Network’s Paul Venoit! Yes he is the genius behind those beautiful ‘Look-A-Likes’, (hence the weekly show). Yes Paul has made up real celebrities, as well as their impersonators. Everyday fans are transformed from ordinary to extraordinary, thanks to Paul. He is talented, worldly, and adventurous! And no one knows make-up, fashion and celebrities better than Paul Venoit!
Jacqueline: Hello Paul! Firstly I would like to say that it is an absolute pleasure to be interviewing you! I am a huge fan of your show ‘Look -A- Like’, on the TV Guide Network! And I just love the way you take everyday fans, and turn them into a star! We always see many interesting auditions for the show! Tell me Paul, who was your most outrageous fan casting for the show yet!
Paul Venoit: I’d have to say this kid who came in as Johnny Knoxville and set his testicles on fire… BIZARRE!!!
Jacqueline: You have made many make-overs on the show and turned everyday people into our most loved celebrities. What do you look for in a person when you cast them for the show? Is it their resemblance to an actor or celebrity? Talent? Or is it their personality that is the winning factor?
Paul Venoit: During the audition period we definitely look for talent with some physical similarities… and winning personality never hurts.
Jacqueline: You are a fantastic make-up artist! And can make people into stars such as Angelina Jolie to Reese Witherspoon. We would love to hear how this process is done, and what are your inside tricks to get that look!
Paul Venoit: I choose to focus on the one feature/look that most inspired me to see the resemblance and I build my look around that.

Jacqueline: Tell me Paul, who was your favorite make-over that you did for the show?
Paul Venoit: There have been so many shows that I had a great time filming… Kid Rock, Ozzy Osborne, JLo, Justin Timberlake, etc…. the list goes on.
Jacqueline: To get back to beauty Paul, you must use some really fabulous cosmetic lines for the show. Tell me, which brands are your most favorite to use. Especially when it comes to foundations, lipsticks and eye shadows!
Paul Venoit: When it comes to choosing a foundation, lipstick or eye shadow that is right for you, it’s important to explore what the various lines have to offer… there are gems within each line.
Jacqueline: Would you say you’re a traditional foundation guy or new age mineral make-up guy?
Paul Venoit: I’d have to say each has its place in my kit… I love them both for different reasons.
Jacqueline: Now you are a huge and well respected make-up artist in your own right. And have had the opportunity to do the make-up of many celebrities such as Kate Moss and Claudia Schiffer. Who was your favorite celebrity that you have ever worked with?
Paul Venoit: I love what I do and get to work with many great women and men it’s hard to say… Kate Walsh and Jill Hennessy were great fun to work with; as were Kate Moss and Claudia Schiffer… it’s a long list of wonderful talented artist and personalities. I can’t choose one!!!!
Jacqueline: Paul, we would love to hear your beauty tips for this summer season! Tell us, what are the hottest beauty trends this season for both women and men.
Paul Venoit: My run down for women’s and men’s beauty for the summer would be for the Women: Eyes - turquoise, violet and fuchsia and metallic brown shadows are all the rage.
Cheeks – rosey shades and a light dusting of bronzer fuel up a sun kissed glow.
Lips -Look for rich pinks, reds and yes nude shades are still in the mix!
Foundations – choose light oil free formulas for the hot summer months…. Experiment with mineral makeup for sheer buildable coverage!
For the Men: Big trend- Retro inspired fashions and hair!
Jacqueline: Paul tell us what are your favorite beauty products! Now I know that men’s skin has different needs compared to women’s, so which are your favorite men’s beauty products that you would recommend. And what can’t you just live without!
Paul Venoit: For the one stop shopper… the skincare line Dermalogica has everything a guy would need to stay on top of the grooming game.The face washes and moisturizers are light and effective!
Jacqueline: Paul I always love to end my interviews with a fun trivia question! Which famous designer said “The best thing is to look natural, but it takes make-up to look natural!”
Paul Venoit: These sophisticated words would have come from the brilliant Calvin Klein…
